If your gift card is like the ones I have seen, the number you want is the 13-digit "Redemption code" which is usually under a security coating (all or part) and should appear directly above the bar code on the back of the card.
The first nine digits of the redemption code may also appear below the bar code as part of a larger number, which is one reason why scammers often ask users to reveal the last four digits of the code and provide a picture of the back of the card.
