What is this? Help!
Summary: cheech2021 received an email that appeared to be from eBay, asking them to verify information for security purposes, which they suspected was a scam. eburtonlab confirmed it was indeed a scam, explaining that eBay does not use user account messages with verification links and noted past issues with scam messages. krazzykats inquired whether it was through eBay messaging or community boards and advised changing passwords after learning cheech2021 fell for the scam and disclosed credit card information. They recommended canceling the card and also suggested changing the email password.
Ebay emailed me saying You have a new notification.

It is a scam. eBay does not send messages from user accounts with links to verify anything. That is something that scammers often do.
eBay recently shut down the community message feature for several days to prevent such messages, but apparently turning the feature back on allows the old scam messages with the scam link to be seen once again, even though new messages with links should be blocked now.
