What is going on??

Why does ebay care about what device I use to log into ebay with?
I have several devices and everytime I use a differnt one than the last time I logged in ebay acts like my account is being hacked and makes me jump through hoops to get into my account, verifacation codes, emails, etc.. I thought more technology was supposed to make us "safer" but all it seams to do is make everything less safe. I have been a member here for over 20 years and back in the days of Windows 98 - XP - Vista - 7 - 8 - 10 nothing like this ever happened and those OS are supposed to be super unsafe and hackable yet I never have had a problem until the "new ebay". I am starting to get seriously frusterated with ebay.

this is to prevent your account being used by a hacker.
This is how eBay keeps your account safe, similar to what banks do.
