What is eBay's selling policy

Question

What kind of items could someone sell on eBay? I mean can someone sell both new & used items, and buy items from other online marketplaces or auctions and sell them on eBay? What if you have no invoice or receipt for the purchased item two or four years back?

You can sell both new and used items.

You can purchase items anywhere you choose, have them delivered to you and them sell them on eBay.

You can not list an item you do not have, then buy it from a retailer and have it delivered to the buyer. That is not allowed.

2-4 years should not be a big problem to gather documentation on your purchases. Most credit cards give you several years of statements available online. Many retailers keep your purchase history available for multiple years. You can always contact the retailer and ask them to help you get a copy of your receipt.

You should start now collecting the documentation that you will need to file your 2024 income taxes - the earlier you start, the easier it is. Plus eBay may ask for proof of purchase, especially on the pricier items you are selling.
