What if a Buyer can't setup a laptop and then voids warranty and asks for a refund?
I have a perfecting selling record but one buyer of a laptop didn't setup Windows right on a reset after receiving it. He then continued to use it but with Windows crashing because software issues. He was transferred a warranty from the laptop maker's secondary company (Centricity). Well he kept asking for help and I walked him through the resetting process and fixing software but instead he contacted the maker and complained. The said they would work on the software for a fee.
He then complain about the fee to EBay and that he then that he would have to call the real company he had a warranty with.
Ebay then just contacted me and said they were putting a hold on my future funds because the requested return. The Laptop had no returns on it and this is through their Buyer Protection. The Laptop fully worked and was almost new. I had no control over the buyer setting it up without the right Drivers or the software side. The Hardware works or it wouldn't set up or allow them to use it in the manner they showed me. I also had no control over the buyer using my info to contact the laptop maker to fix the software and had the issues he's having instead of contacting the Warranty company to help he fix what he done with the software.
At what point is it on the buyer to have to use the computer right and things like setting Windows up right? Does the seller have no protections? The buyer wanted to meet in person instead of shipping first and then messed up setting it up and after basically voided the laptop warranty but telling them I sold it and has control of the 2nd warranty I purchased and now wants his money back.
What should I do at this point or am I just screwed by this one buyer after all the ones I have sold without issue?
