What happens if you block someone who has already bid on an item?
Long story short, there is a buyer who has been giving me a real headache. It started with them wanting me to break up my listings and do a new listing for just the pieces they wanted.
At first, I was willing to take down my current listings to make one with the items they wanted since no one else seemed interested in them, but they would never confirm which items they wanted and what price they would pay for them. So I wasn't going to just take everything down when I didn't even know if I had a sale or not.
I wanted to just block them, but they had already bid on another of my listings.
I did not know what would happen if I blocked them while they were bidding, and I did not want a mark against my account, so I decided to wait until the bidding was over.
Of course they won. And in the meantime bid on other items.
They have not paid for anything, and I'll be able to cancel their order tonight, assuming they don't pay in the next few hours, but it has been such a headache.
The longest item was committed to sometime last week, maybe Wednesday or Thursday. They told me to combine their shipping (I would have anyway as I try to do that for everyone who buys from me whether they ask me to or not, but it was annoying to be told to do so), and so I sent an invoice with the 4 things they've committed to buy from me in the last week, and it's been sitting there, ignored.
Today, they messaged me accusing me of selling another listing that I had 'told them I would sell to them'. That never happened. They asked about it and I told them what sort of offer I would take for it. They never put in an offer.
The only reason I haven't blocked them yet is because I can't cancel their order until tonight, around 2 am, and I don't know how that will affect things if I do block them.
So what happens? If someone who has bid on a listing is being a gremlin, can you go ahead and block them? What happens if they win that auction?
Also, I have another buyer who never paid for their purchase. Once time ran out, I canceled the order and blocked them, but that buyer is still messaging me. Did I somehow mess up how I blocked them? Why can they still message me?

Mentor3 years agoBest you can do is cancel their bids.
Then put them on your blocked list.
Then block message from those on the list.

Then in your Buyer Requirement preferences, enable the communication block for people on your blocked list here:

·3 years agoBlocking does not cancel any bid.
Canceling a bid does not block.
They are two separate actions.

OP3 years ago@woodland_gnome so is there an option I can do where they can no longer message me? I sort of thought blocking someone would make it so they couldn't see my listings or message me, but I have someone who is on my blocked list messaging me.

·3 years agoYou can set a Buyer Requirement https://pages.ebay.com/services/buyandsell/biddermanagement.html to block messages from blocked buyers, but it is not 100% effective.
