What do you do when you have an issue?
This website is a barren wasteland totally automated and free of human management. They have removed all possible methods of contacting them, and customer service chat/calls aren't useful as each individual agent is trained differently and operating under a totally different, random set of knowledge, where even two agents in the same call center can disagree on simple eBay policy on the same phone call.
Do I have to write them a physical letter in the mail to get human beings to respond to me? Or is that mail channel also piped into a furnace? What is the seller supposed to do when CS isn't enough? Where's the escalation, the support ticket email that goes to an actual eBay employee, and not a contractor across the world?

OP9 months agoThanks for the canned reply.
1. How do I stop eBay from automatically accepting every single return every buyer ever thinks of on a whim?
2. How do I indicate to my buyers that "I found a better price" or "I changed my mind" are not valid return reasons, despite what they may think?
3. Are these rules enforceable in any way, or will eBay just continue to let buyers rob me whenever it wants?

Mentor9 months ago@ilyakipnis Yes we use "canned" replies, also known as macros that we create ourselves, for basic questions so we can help more people.
I understand that returns are frustrating.
"1. How do I stop eBay from automatically accepting every single return every buyer ever thinks of on a whim?"
This is how to slow down the return process.
I recommend setting up your return preferences to avoid a refund being issued prior to receiving an item ( as long as eBay is not asked to step in by the buyer) and so you can provide your own return shipping label that has insurance if it is a not as described return. If it is a buyers remorse return the RMA will still be required for the buyer to proceed with refund request even though they pay return shipping.
1. Go to your return Preferences on turn on the option to require an RMA.
https://www.ebay.com/rtn/Return/SellerRules ( an RMA number is just any number you wish to use)
2. Provide your own pre-paid label
I would buy the return shipping label on Pirateship.com and upload it to the return cause so that you have insurance if the item is lost or damaged in return shipment. eBay return labels do NOT come with insurance.
When using your own carrier, make sure to upload the label and tracking details to the buyer’s return request. For items that have a total cost of $750 or more, signature confirmation is required.
Here’s how to send your own label from the View return details section:
Select Upload a shipping label and then the upload image icon.
Choose the label you want to send to your buyer.
Select your carrier and enter the tracking number.
2. How do I indicate to my buyers that "I found a better price" or "I changed my mind" are not valid return reasons, despite what they may think?
These are VALID remorse return reasons. You do allow 14 day buyer pays return shipping for remorse returns. Remorse returns are doesn't fit, changed mind, found better price, etc.
The buyer pays return shipping for remorse returns and you do not have to refund the outbound shipping.
You can deny a remorse return if the buyer files one after 14 days.
3. Are these rules enforceable in any way, or will eBay just continue to let buyers rob me whenever it wants?
If you have a no return policy then you can deny remorse returns. However I do NOT recommend this because no returns does NOT mean no refunds. Bad buyers will SAY an item is not as described, or even damage an item, so that they can return it when you have a no returns policy then you end up paying return shipping.
With your 14 day buyer pays return shipping the buyer pays the return shipping and you don't have to refund the outbound shipping, as I mentioned in my reply to #2
I recommend looking at the eBay Money Back Guarantee that you agree to honor when selling on eBay.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
