What do people see in Ebay?
After a ridiculous experience with a scam, which yes, I should have noticed, but so should Ebay's automated systems, I find that Ebay's risk/reward ratio just cannot compete with Amazon or AliExpress or others. Ebay:
1) Has the worth fraud detection I've ever seen. I have to assume they do it on purposes because, hey, 23.25% of a fraudulent transaction is still 23.25%. (13.25% of the TOTAL purchase price, which includes the price of them, and shipping and taxes -- I have really never heard of getting a commission on taxes -- plus the 10% they try to get you to pay to be ranked higher).
2) Has the worst communication I've seen of any company like this. I attempted to contact them on Facebook, and was told that an agent would be with me "shortly". "Shortly" was 3 1/2 hours, and they still did not fix the problem.
3) Seems to make it purposefully hard to speak to a human with any authority to fix a problem (nothing new there for big companies, but Ebay takes it to a new level, like running you through forms without any option that applies to your situation and then when you keep hitting "Other option" you still are not directed to a person.
4) The 10% they try to get you to pay to rank higher does nothing for you because if everyone is doing it, you end up in the same place as if no one was doing it. I'd suggest a boycott, but I know no one would do it.
There's more (like the classified ad process, which is just begging to get ripped off, and the $6 random fees they seem to be hitting people with with little rational explanation), but you get the idea: An ELECTRONIC platform (they are not making products themselves, or offering great logistics like Amazon - and no, I do not work for Amazon, get nothing from them, and I think they over-charge as well, but not like Ebay) that gets about a quarter of all the money the goes into a transaction, and in return, provides awful service and fraud detection (which then makes the customer service problem worse since you have to contact them to resolve the fraud problem).
I don't get what people see about this platform. Back when it was new and it was really PEOPLE (not scammers and businesses) selling real (generally used) things at reasonable prices, I liked it. But those days are long, long gone.
