What are my options?
I purchased some DDR5 RAM about a month ago. When it arrived, I built my PC. The RAM was defective. I didnt know it at the time, but suspected it. So, to make sure it was the RAM instead of the motherboard, I purchased another new motherboard to test it in. When the motherboard came the RAM gave me the same exact problem, so it wasnt the motherboard. I tried to contact eBay through their app, and was told I would get a response in 24-48 hours. I did this on the final day of the money back guarantee date. The seller has been uncooperative and denied my return request.
So, I tried to contact eBay while still within the money back guarantee timeframe, and they havent called me back. Now the seller has denied my return request and I'm not sure what my options are. The manufacturer confirmed the RAM had defects, but is unable to provide a warranty repair because they need the original receipt. So, what are my options? I'll file a chargeback with my bank, but what else can I do? Is taking eBay to small-claims court my only option since I'm apparently being punished for eBay not responding to my request for contact while within the policy timeframe? What else can I do?

I'm sorry that happened.
When there is a problem, you don't need to speak to customer service, you just open a Return Request.
You can open your return request here. Just click the photo and follow the instructions.

You would get a return label and could return the item.

If you are past the return time, filing a chargeback is the only solution.
The way chargebacks work, the chargeback comes to eBay and then to the seller.
You'll get your money from the credit card and then small claims isn't necessary.

OP8 months agoAppreciate the reply and how thorough you were. I didnt know what my options were, which is why I contacted eBay. Now I know, but if they had called me back the same day I wouldve been able to do more. Since I contacted eBay while within the return period and was waiting for them to call me back, I didnt think I'd be penalized for their lack of a response. So, I was penalized for eBay not returning my call. If they returned the call, I wouldve been able to follow their advice and file a return request within the proper timeframe. Sadly, it seems a ton of sellers lie in their product description about computer components. The 2nd motherboard I bought to test the RAM in was sold as brand new, but when I tried to register the warranty, I was denied. Oh well, live and learn.
