weird shipping issue
Hi all,
Looking for some help here. A buyer bought a sports card, which I shipped using the ebay standard delivery. The tracking shows it was delivered, but the buyer says he didn't get it, and further there is in fact something really weird about the tracking. It shows it out for delivery on feb 5 in albuquerque and delivered on feb 6th in marietta, ga. He opened a item not delivered claim, and because the tracking was already updated and on the order, there's nothing for me to do in the process. So i can refund him and then make a claim, but the tracking shows delivered, so i'm not sure what would happen. I'm not allowed to ask ebay to step in for three days, I think. Any ideas or experience with something like this? (bottom line i would just refund him no big deal, but i want to make sure I don't give up my ability to file a claim.)

Mentor7 months ago@alro_693572 I don't think that you would win a PIP insurance claim for a not received item if tracking shows delivery.
The card may still arrive as the ESE tracking is only read by the sorting equipment at the facility that has the capability closest to the buyer. This means that card can be delivered several days or more after tracking shows delivery.
If you respond to the case with the tracking that shows delivery then you do win the case.
Here's a link if you'd like try filing a claim after you refund the buyer>

OP7 months agoRight so I take your point. One weird thing about this is that I can’t reply with a tracking number bc there is already a tracking number. And I mean ultimately I don’t want to just win, I want to be fair to the customer. I think the answer may be to wait three days to see if it’s delivered, and then ask eBay to step in? Or am I risking a seller rating issue, whereas if I just refund and then work with eBay I avoid that?

Mentor7 months agosince the tracking number is in the case you don't have to worry about adding it.
You can ask the buyer to wait 3 business days to see if it's delivered. eBay won't force a refund as long as you have tracking that shows delivery in the case. You don't need to ask eBay to step in as the case is going to close in your favor when it times out in 30 days or so. The buyer can ask eBay to step in on the 4th business day but you should win the case.
If you refund I am 99% sure that you will not receive an insurance payout. I may be wrong though as PIP insurance is a bit different. If you do file the claim I think that there is a spot for screen shots, add the buyers statement that it was not received even though tracking says otherwise.
