Weird Shipping Issue
A Buyer contacted me this morning saying that she had three packages returned because she had moved around the corner and was living between two houses. One of the packages apparently was the $150 item that I had sent to her. She said that ebay had told her to go the post office and get a money order for $20 so she could send it to me and pay me to resend the item. This was the first red flag. I live in a large metropolitan city and so I asked her if she had spoken to her local post office because I think even here we have the same postal delivery people and this could be resolved. She said that she would go there today and get the mail forwarding etc. and explain the situation. This can all be done online now. Plus, she figured out how to use ebay to buy something so she clearly knows how to use a computer. Then, she sent me a screenshot of her "permanent" address which is different from where I sent it and asked me to send it there. At this stage, I did not realize that I actually had received the package back to the mailroom of my building. Reached out to ebay and was not given helpful information via automated help and before I sat on the phone trying to reach out to a human, thought I would post this here. Any suggestions? I have not yet Googled the addresses, her name or whether ebay takes Discover for payment which is what she sent the screenshot of. If she is legit, I don't want to report her, but this all strikes me as weird.

Mentor2 years ago@uptmar-20 eBay takes discover for payment but you won't know HOW the buyer paid since it's processed by eBay and sent to your checking account.
There are two options for handling a package that was returned to you as not deliverable.
1. Contact the buyer and see if they have another address to ship the item to. If they do then you can share your email address since you have a recent sale together and have them send the funds to you electronically use Venmo or other payment transfer method to pay to ship the item again.
This is not considered an offsite sale since the sale already took place.
You should buy the shipping label on Pirateship.com or other source. Do NOT print another label from the eBay sale or you'll end up with two tracking numbers on the sold listing which will confuse the system.
2. If they don't want the item or don't respond. Go to the sold item and select send refund from the drop down menu next to the item. Then on the next page select OTHER for the reason. Next refund the ITEM PRICE ONLY. Do not give a full refund with the shipping costs. eBay does refund sellers fees on the amount that you refund the buyer. If you have to do this option I'd add the buyer to my blocked buyer list>
