Weird Account Overlap
This is a wild one.
I've been getting a batch of email notifications of bidding on items in the UK (I'm in the US). All of the tell-tale signs of phishing aren't present (all links and address look legit), yet when I go to my Ebay account and looking at browsing/buying/bidding history and I see nothing. So, to summarize, somebody is bidding/buying items in the UK, but the notifications are coming to me.
Now, this isn't the first sort of thing like this. I get notifications for somebody in the UK and somebody in Australia all the time. (In fact, I reached out to the guy in Australia because I got some really personal info intended for him.)
So, how do I stop it? And how does a legit person get notifications sent to someone else's account? I'm guessing that it has to do with the fact that I have a gmail account and just removing a period just sends to the same inbox.
Any thoughts?
