WATCH OUT - EBAY DOES NOT TELL YOU IN ADVANCE THEY ARE HOLDING YOUR FUNDS 30 DAYS
I have been out here 22yrs. Recently, sold an item to help a widow of a SEAL. Needs cash.
As I'm preparing the listing, AT NO TIME did Ebay notify me, on screen, that any funds would be held.
Jerks are holding it 30 days. Buyer is thrilled, 5star positive review, and I have never had a single negative mark over 22yrs. Ebay keeping my money for 30 days for their OVER NIGHT SWEEPS. And their sales pitch? "safety of the community." **bleep**. They are making money on your money.
Let's add a bonus: I called ebay 'support' four times. All four calls got a different answer. I lost 6hrs of my life trying to learn **bleep** is wrong with these people.
SELLER BEWARE: They believe that saying 'sometimes we decide to hold your funds.....' is good enough.
NOT. Money clears out of this account, I AM BOYCOTTING EBAY AFTER 22YRS of faithful use. Their lack of integrity on this subject, even after reviewing all the content, communications, etc. is vulgar.

I think eBay should require all new or infrequent sellers to read a handful of pages, including the one on payment holds. Unfortunately, it isn't mandatory, and too many new sellers are surprised at the hold.
I think this page explains it best -
