warranty on purchased item not honored by merchant

Question

I purchased an item on Ebay that featured a 5 year warranty. I purchased 2 of the same item and one did not work. I thought it was my problem but after months of attempts, I am certain I need an exchange on the battery. When I contact the seller, they never respond. After many attempts, over 6 months passed and now I cannot start a refund with ebay because it doesn't list my purchases from 2022. How do I get Ebay to help?

If they were purchased last year, not much you can do.

Was it a Chinese seller?

They offer those long warranties, but you have to ship the items back to China and most of the time, the shipping is more then the item is worth.

If you purchased a third-party warranty, contact the warranty service directly.

eBay's money back guarantee, which is not a warranty, only applies in the first thirty days after receipt of the item.

Manufacturer's warranties typically only apply if you purchase the item from an authorized dealer; check with the manufacturer to see what your options are.

A warranty is only as good as the reputation of whoever offers it. A claim of a five year warranty made by a random seller on eBay is not worth much. Neither you nor eBay can force the seller to honor the warranty if the seller disappears or ignores you.

You may have some protection from PayPal or your payment method; PayPal and many credit cards may offer up to six months protection for your purchases.
