Warranty claim procedure for 18 volt lithium ion battery
Has anyone asked to file a warranty claim with mateproe989 ? I purchased a battery in Oct. 2023, and it was listed as being covered by a 5 year warranty. After 7 months, it has stopped charging. The battery is a VANAN 18v lithium for Ridgid tools.

Mentor2 years agoIf you purchased a third-party warranty, contact the warranty service directly.
eBay's money back guarantee, which is not a warranty, only applies in the first thirty days after receipt of the item.
Manufacturer's warranties typically only apply if you purchase the item from an authorized dealer; check with the manufacturer to see what your options are.
A warranty is only as good as the reputation of whoever offers it. A claim of a two year warranty made by a random seller on eBay is not worth much. Neither you nor eBay can force the seller to honor the warranty if the seller disappears or ignores you.
You may have some protection from PayPal or your payment method; PayPal and many credit cards may offer up to six months protection for your purchases. After that your options are limited.

OP2 years agoThank you. This is my second bad experience with a failed aftermarket lithium ion battery purchased on ebay. This time, both the eBay seller and the battery manufacturer are totally ignoring me. Manufacturers phone number disconnected, lots of bad reviews. The hole in this system is that when this is reported to ebay, they allow the seller and the manufacturer to continue listing products, stating warranties which will never be honored. I can no longer provide any information in a review to new eBay buyers to warn them. This is a disservice to buyers. Fortunately, I purchased an Allstate extended service plan on this, and will submit a claim with them. But this is gaming the system, and Allstate should probably stop offering coverage for these imported batteries offered by (apparently) less than reputable sellers and manufacturers.
