warranty claim not honored by seller and Ebay has no course of action.
I purchased an automotive HVAC control unit that failed within the one year warranty period. The seller is unresponsive and ebay has no course of action.
The manufacturer says it is the sellers responsibility to administer the warranty.
Anyone has a solution?

If you purchased a third-party warranty, contact the warranty service directly.
eBay's money back guarantee, which is not a warranty, only applies in the first thirty days after receipt of the item.
Manufacturer's warranties typically only apply if you purchase the item from an authorized dealer; check with the manufacturer to see what your options are if you are not sure.
A warranty is only as good as the reputation of whoever offers it. A claim of a two year warranty made by a random seller on eBay is not worth much. Neither you nor eBay can force the seller to honor the warranty if the seller disappears or ignores you.
You may have some protection from PayPal or your payment method; PayPal and many credit cards may offer up to six months protection for your purchases. After that, your options are limited.

OP2 years agoCopy all - but Ebay should not allow sellers to boldly offer and imply the item has a warranty.
Net result moving forward my ebay purchases will be last resort only and very selective.
I don’t see a way to rate a seller or transaction past 30 days. That would be useful when a seller flaunts a warranty as a selling point.
Most of my ebay purchases have been positive. Ebay is the wrong platform for this one. Live and learn. But - Ebay should clean up the seller warranty claims. That is what drove my purchase decision.

Sellers are solely responsible for the content of their descriptions.
eBay does have a policy about warranties:

Unfortunately, eBay is not proactive about enforcing the requirements, so if buyers do not complain within thirty days, little is done.

You should be able to leave feedback up to sixty days from delivery.
Ebay should clean up the seller warranty claims.
I do not disagree.
