Warranties
So I bought a computer, it came with a 190 day warranty. It worked great and did for several months. The return window passed and on day 187 the computer failed. So feedback had been left. Positive feedback. I contacted them and they told me they couldn’t do a refund but if I sent it back they would try to fix it. I boxed it up and sent it back. So now the have my money and my computer.
that’s when communication came to a virtual stop. Weeks go by and no communication. Then (like today) I get a message saying here is the tracking number but no tracking number is attached. That kind of thing.
I have looked far a place to ask eBay to step in but AI always ends up asking a question that I can’t answer. So they can’t continue and help. Even when I try to find a phone number, there are questions so they can “get me to the right person†that I can’t answer because my issue isn’t there.
I think seller warranties are left to the integrity of the seller. If they decide not to honor their warranty, then buyers are just out of luck.
I’ve been strung along for 2 months now and really have no hope of ever getting resolution.
I thought eBay should create an algorithm so that a seller would have to declare the warranty period in a way that eBay could police them. In this process a buyer would have the ability to enter feedback at the end of the warranty period. A buyer should have some recourse and eBay’s involvement would have an impact on the seller’s motivation to follow through.
if anyone knows of a good method to deal with this, I would appreciate advice.

Mentor2 years agoAfraid after 30 days for ebay or 180 for the payment processor, neither can help you. If this wasn't a new computer from an authorized dealer the manufacturer can't help you either. Only thing left is if you want to go the smalls claims court route and/or file a police report in the seller's city.
