Walmart delivery instead of USPS, missing suite number, and No Data packages
Hi everyone,
I’m dealing with an unusual delivery situation and would appreciate advice from experienced buyers or community mentors.
I bought four 2-packs of Listerine Pocketmist, eight items in total, for approximately $19. The listing showed standard USPS shipping, and the order was updated with USPS tracking number 9261290376126791040739. The USPS tracking page shows delivery to Compton, CA, which is the ZIP code of my U.S. freight-forwarding warehouse.
However, my forwarding warehouse has confirmed that the delivery was made through Walmart Local Delivery rather than USPS. The seller also sent a delivery photo showing four Walmart paper bags outside the warehouse.
The warehouse further confirmed that the bags arrived without my personal Geniezip suite/box number. Because the suite number was missing and the bags had no USPS labels, barcodes, or tracking numbers, the warehouse could not identify them as belonging to my account. It therefore registered them as four separate “No Data” packages.
If the suite number had been included, the packages could have been matched to my account and consolidated. Because they were processed as four separate No Data packages, they cannot currently be consolidated. Forwarding them internationally would cost $22.00 in total, while returning them would incur a Geniezip handling fee of $4.90 per bag, or $19.60 total.
I contacted the seller and explained that the actual delivery method and missing suite number created this problem. The seller stated that the order was delivered to the shipping address and that the seller is not responsible for forwarding or international shipping charges. However, the seller has not explained the difference between the USPS tracking uploaded to the order and the Walmart delivery shown in the seller’s own photo.
I am currently considering an “Item not as described” return request and would appreciate guidance on the following questions:
1. Does uploading USPS tracking when the actual delivery was made through Walmart Local Delivery potentially violate eBay’s shipping or drop-shipping policies?
2. If the seller omitted the buyer’s suite number, causing the items to become four separate No Data packages and preventing consolidation, could this support an “Item not as described” claim?
3. Because the address omission and tracking mismatch occurred before or upon delivery to the freight-forwarding warehouse, could eBay Money Back Guarantee still apply?
4. What assistance or resolution might be available from eBay so that I can seek a full refund without having to pay the $19.60 warehouse return-handling fee or the $22.00 forwarding cost?
Thanks very much in advance for your help.
