I just went downstairs and checked the VIN on my car. It has letters and numbers all mixed together. They did a good job differentiating the 1 (numeral one) from the l (lower shift l as in little) and I (uppershift I as in Indiana) but not so much with the 0 (zero) and O (uppershift O as in Oklahoma). Is it possible you're entering a letter instead of a number or vice versa?
