Victim of Fraud Absolutely No Assistance from eBay
Good Day,
This is a last ditch effort for help. I have been a victim of fraud where someone has compromised my card and bought several items on eBay. The problem is until now I did not have an active eBay account. My financial institution says call eBay which I called 1 (866) 961-9253 over 10x to keep receiving an automated service that asks me questions about an account I know nothing about. Then the system asks if I would like them to text the information for help to me. How??? You’d literally be texting the people who zeroed out my account. eBay needs a better system to help people who are victims of fraud. I’m out hundreds of dollars which impacts my family and their health concerns. Instead of help, I get a system whose primary function is to redirect calls to prerecorded information and hang up on people. This is not customer service.

So sorry this happened. If the items are not in your ebay purchase history then it's going to need to be disputed with your card since your card was compromised and not your eBay account.
This is the dedicated number for Hacked Accounts: 1-866-961-9253
( customer service agents at this number can only help with account security issues)
Here's my advice to help secure your account:
#1 Run a full scan with your virus software to remove any spyware from your computer.
#2 Go to my eBay> account>personal information and make sure that all information is correct including your cell phone number, registered email and ship from and to addresses.
https://accountsettings.ebay.com/profile
#3 Change your passwords and secret questions. My eBay> account> sign in and security

#4 Secure your email account.
Change the passwords and secret questions. Be sure to use different passwords and secret questions on eBay and your email. Do not use these passwords on any other account.
Hacked accounts often start with a hacked email account.
#5 Calling is the only way to report hacked accounts for security reasons.
This is the dedicated number for Hacked Accounts: 1-866-961-9253

IF you are outside the US or Canada you will need to use Skype to call.

#6 For extra protection consider turning on two-step verification. 3rd option on this page>

#7 Unlink all Social Sign in methods and change your passwords on those accounts too. The hacker will be able to use the social sign in links to sign in to your account again if you do not disconnect this option.

OP2 years agoThank you for this. It was a brand new card, well less than 90-days old. I used it at books a millions, Popeyes, that’s it. I did not use it again for except to have my closet upgraded (these are the people I believed compromised my account). They did one transaction in April. There were no other transactions until they completed the work in July then came the multiple eBay transactions.
It’s not fair, I did not do this and my financial institution says speak to eBay but I cannot speak to eBay unless I can provide information to a fraudulent account with my card information on it. It is ridiculous that people are just buying things on here with a stolen card and there is nothing you can do about it? I have the order/transactions numbers from my financial institution but eBay offers absolutely no way to speak to anyone about the transactions. This part is the real crime as this is a huge crack in their system criminals are obviously taking advantage of.
My email was not compromised, I was not spoofed— I shared my information with company that was supposed to be reputable. What’s just as scary as eBay’s lack of security measure was these people were in my house.

@comics-scifi-collectibles, can you help them out?

OP2 years agoThank you.
I’ve been attempting to use the system here and it’s starting that I have no information on file. Funny, I can’t have information unless I have an account, but I create an account to be told I can’t have information because there is nothing wrong with my account. I tried to “contact an agent†and there were none available.
I feel like I am in the worse safety training video ever.
