VERY Inconsistent search results
Hello,
When performing a search, for example:
mopar am fm 1970
I receive over 1100 results, most not containing any of my search words.
Am I doing this incorrectly?
Thank you in advance.

Mentor2 years agoWhen you search using only keywords, you are asking eBay to provide results that contain those keywords anywhere in the title or item specifics, in any order.
All your keywords are very common keywords used in thousands of automotive listings. eBay is showing you the 1100 listings that have all of those keywords anywhere in the titles or item-specifics.
Automotive listings particularly are notorious for having pages and pages of item-specifics listing all the makes and models of compatible vehicles or compatible parts. Some sellers take advantage of this to fill their listings with "spam" keywords so their items turn up in numerous searches.
You may want to add some additional keywords -- such as the name of what you are actually looking for -- or even exclude a keyword or two, narrow your search to a particular category, and then use some of the category-specific filters available to narrow your search further. That should cut down much of the unrelated clutter.
Since many of the listings in the results appear to be of the "spam" keyword variety, using a single exclusion term unrelated to your search -1911 wipes out much of "spam" listings -- unless the part you were looking for is actually compatible with a 1911 model vehicle or is otherwise likely to include that number legitimately.

OP2 years agoThank you for your expert advice and response. I thought only the title is searched unless the description box is checked. I will certainly follow your suggestions and appreciate your guidance.
Thank you

Mentor2 years agoYou are very welcome.
It is possible to search the entire description as you describe, but there is no way to avoid matching keywords in the title or item-specifics when searching.
