USPS tracking shows that my package was delivered, but it wasn’t
Summary: aks21b experienced issues with two separate shipments via USPS, where tracking indicated deliveries that did not occur. In the first case, the seller actively followed up with the post office, while the second seller was less helpful, directing the buyer to contact eBay. Despite reporting the non-delivery to eBay, aks21b's appeal was rejected due to the tracking information provided by the seller. They are now seeking advice on how to pursue USPS insurance and resolve the issue further.
Two completely different items were shipped via USPS from two different sellers and the tracking didn’t work on either one. One package got listed the very next day as having been delivered to a post office box in St. Paul, MN, but the seller remained engaged, went to the post office a couple different times to make sure that the package was actually still on its way to Connecticut. The second package showed as delivered when in fact it wasn’t nor was it delivered anywhere in the neighborhood. Having established that, I contacted the seller who advised me to wait more days, and then told me he was unable to do anything and that I would need to contact eBay. Eventually, I was able to report that delivery did not actually happe. eBay turned down my appeal because the seller sent them the tracking record. I guess that’s fine, but I assume there USPS insurance on this package, but I don’t know how to collect it and I can’t get through to eBay and I have learned the seller's worth and interest in helping me resolve this. Thoughts?

When a package shows delivered, there is no insurance claim to file. With the first package, it sounds like that Seller is staying on top of things. You can also follow that tracking by going to the USPS site and request tracking updates via text. That is different and quicker than filing a missing mail claim. For the 2nd package, I would message eBay on their Instagram page. There is eBay support there Monday-Friday, 6am-6pm, PST. I would mention that you think you might be the victim of a fake tracking scam. If eBay support is not able to resolve this for you, your option then is to file a chargeback with your bank/credit card. I would go through eBay first. Once you open a chargeback, you lose all eBay Buyer Protection.
