USPS shipping damaged an item
I shipped a weather meter Pressure, Temp, Humidity item to a customer. It arrived broken. USPS insurance claim requires a picture of damage. Customer doesn't have a camera to document damage. Now he wants a refund and I can't file a claim as he can't supply a picture. And I already got - feedback. Arggggh. Item #317520629983 Charlie

According to your profile page, this sale was for $4.25. That would be your insurance coverage amount, assuming it was approved. In the meantime, if the Buyer opens an Item Not as Described refund request, you would have three business days to respond with either a prepaid return label or a refund. If you do not respond on time, eBay can step in and force the refund.
By issuing the refund, eBay will reimburse you for most of your selling fees for this transaction. Generally, when an item arrives damaged, the Seller should first refund the Buyer, then try to file the insurance claim.

OP9 months agoYep, The buyer says the glass was broken and he doesn't have a camera the item was packed sideways so the glass was on the side and wrapped in bubble wrap, and a picture of the damage is needed on the USPS web site to submit a claim and it is very difficult to get a human at USPS which I finally got an email for USPO acct. help desk.
