USPS returned a sold item, said home was vacant.

Question

I just had USPS bring me an item that I had sold, and had been paid for, back to me. Said that the home mailed to was vacant, no one living there. Had to pay $5.00 for return. Attempted to contact buyer, no reply yet.

The easiest way to handle this situation is to refund the Buyer minus any original shipping they paid. Then relist the item. If it was originally sent via Media Mail, that is a "one-way" service and that's most likely why you had to pay to get it back.

By refunding the Buyer, you should get most of your selling fees returned.
