USPS First-Class Mail
Summary: oceanic8156 expressed concern about the inability to use USPS First-Class Mail for shipping lightweight items like stamps, as eBay automatically switches to USPS Ground Advantage, increasing costs. golfingaddict explained that First-Class Mail is not available online due to its untracked nature and that USPS had replaced it with Ground Advantage. They suggested using eBay Standard Envelope as an alternative for small, lightweight items.
I used to be able to ship my orders using USPS First-Class Mail, but I can no longer do so.
The First-Class Mail option still appears to be available when I create the listing, but when I actually print the label, eBay automatically changes the service to USPS Ground Advantage.
This is a major issue for small, lightweight items such as stamps and other collectibles.
First-Class Mail used to cost around $1+, while Ground Advantage can cost more than $5. That is a huge increase in shipping cost for a very small and lightweight item.
Why is eBay showing First-Class Mail as an option if the system automatically changes it to Ground Advantage when the label is purchased?
This can make the shipping cost higher than the item itself, which discourages buyers from purchasing inexpensive items.

Mentor1 week ago · EditedYou can list first class mail but you cannot print online because it is not a tracked service. The USPS changed from first class package service to Ground Advantage a number of years ago.
You do have other choices for small lightweight items in certain categories and value.

OP1 week agoI think I know why—the size used to be 7" × 5", but now it’s 6.125" × 11.5". I’ll fix it and try again. Thanks!
