how could it cost 5 dollars more to ship a package through usps because i dropped it off at the post office the town over?

Mentor2 years agoI doubt it is the location. I think @disneyshopper is right about the difference in rates from the USPS when going to the PO vs printing on eBay with discounts.

Mentor2 years agoShipping price is based on weight as well as distance. I'm guessing the town over has a different zip code from the town you usually ship from. Also, when you pay for shipping at the post office counter, you are being charged the retail price. If you use ebay shipping, or any third party program, you are paying commercial rates, which is discounted from the retail rates.

OP2 years agoLet me rephrase. I bought a label on ebay like have multiple times. And dropped it off on lunch break at the post office that’s near my office the next town over. About 10 miles difference. I have never been charged before dropping off at that location. So threw me for a loop when I got a bill. Still waiting to hear from usps why?
