USPS damaged an item. USPS refunded the item price. Who refunds shipping?
USPS said to only use the item's insured rate, which I did. But they said to only include the item, not the postage. eBay also immediately withdrew the return postage when the buyer nor I wanted the item returned. Now I'm out $61 in shipping. Who pays?

Mentor8 months agoWhen an insured item gets damaged, the Post Office will pay for the item but generally they do not pay for shipping.
In cases of broken items, the seller refunds the buyer in full and files the claim with the carrier and makes insurance payouts to the seller.
If the buyer opens a return claim for damage, eBay provides the buyer with a return label paid for by the seller. If the buyer does not use the label, it is not charged to the seller.
Did the buyer use the return label?
