Instead of spending over $8 to return an item using the provided QR code, can I use USPS media mail instead?

Yes, if the item qualifies for media mail, you can send it that way - just pay at the PO since there is no eBay discount on medial mail.
You’ll need to ask customer service to enter the new tracking # for you (unless they have restored the link for you to enter it).
The easiest way to do this is to post a private message on social media. www.facebook.com/ebay www.twitter.com/ebay
To speak to customer service, use the link on the left side of this page “have us call you†- https://www.ebay.com/help/contact_us?id=4002&st=10
If you don't see 'have us call you' right under the chat link, click chat. Then at the bottom of the chat topics, click more, then click contact an agent.
