User using vulgar language in eBay chat feature

Hello! I hope everyone is doing well! I am new to the eBay platform and was wondering if I can get some help.

I submitted information regarding an issue I had with a user on the eBay platform. I provided all the information requested and eBay stated they could not find the information requested. It took me over 40 minutes to compile the information requested on the form. I then received a note asking to resubmit because they couldn’t find the content. The user is abusing the eBay messaging platform to avoid other users reporting their content.

Below, please find the content of the report I submitted from the user. I also submitted a picture of the full message. The user messaged the vulgar word to me using individual messages to spell out the word. This is how it appeared through the chat:

    Message 1: You’re a

    Message 2: B

    Message 3: I

    Message 4: T

    Message 5: C

    Message 6: H

I would like to report this user smf2011 for inappropriate language and communication within eBay’s chat feature. I’m a newer user to eBay. My children and I use the chat feature to communicate with sellers. My children saw this message and I had to explain to them that this was inappropriate. Due to this, I don’t feel confident using eBay for future purchases. I thought eBay would have a better community of buyers and sellers. To allow this content to be shared among users is upsetting. Please let me know what other information you need from me to report this content. I hope that my confidence in eBay can be restored and I can use this platform in the future. Until I hear back from an eBay representative, I don’t feel safe allowing my family to use this platform for buying or selling.

It's regrettable that you've encountered a rude user.  They're rare on eBay, but you will find them in all walks of life.  If you ever get similar messages in the future, do not engage in conversation – a reaction only spurs them on – just delete the message unread.  I don't mean to be dismissive, much less insulting, but feeling threatened by that minor vulgarity seems an overreaction to me.  Maybe my sensitivities aren't as delicate, but I'd let it roll off like water from a duck's back.  A threat of violence is a different matter ... that's a felony and should be reported to the police, and a copy of the police report uploaded with a report to eBay.
