UPS shipping adjustment

Question

I shipped something using ebay labels. The box was stamped by the manufacturer with the size. 48 x 5 x 5. I just received a notice that UPS applied an upcharge from $12 to $50 because they said it was 49 x 6 x 6. There is no way that is true. I need to dispute this thought ebay but am having a hard time on their system finding where to do that.

@jim0115 The size stamped on the box is the inside dimensions.Shippers use the outside dimensions. So your item was 49x6x6 since UPS rounds up measurements. If the package's longest side is longer than 48 inches, or if its second longest side is greater than 30 inches long.
If any package with its length (longest side of the package) plus girth (2 x width) + (2 x height) combined exceeding 105 inches.
If any package with the longest side exceeding 48 inches.
Any cylindrical-like item, such as a barrel, drum, pail, or tire, that is not fully encased in a corrugated cardboard shipping container.
Any package routed through UPS’s irregular package sortation process, including but not limited to packages 1 inch or less in height.

If a package is an irregular package, please select Irregular Package when purchasing your label.

Additionally, UPS has recently changed their minimum billable weight to 40 lbs when:

Length: Any package with the longest side exceeds 48 inches.

Width: Any package with its second-longest side exceeds 30 inches.

Length plus girth: Any package with its length (longest side of the package) plus girth (2 x width) + (2 x height) combined exceeding 105 inches.

UPS audited dimensions: 6 x 49 x 6 in.

Customer entered dimensions: 5 x 48 x 5 in

Dumb mistake on my part. This fraction of an inch over 48" is going to cost me an extra $35 in shipping. Lesson learned.
