UPS saying golf driver weighed 40 pounds

Question

UPS saying I owe additional money for shipping a Titleist Driver. KY to WI They are trying to say it weighed 40 pounds. They are charging me more than 36$ extra How do I correct this, it might have weighed 3 pounds maybe.

The problem is that your package was long and exceeded one cubic foot. Packages over one cubic foot are charged based on DIM (dimensional ) weight and not the actual weight. So the larger the package the more the DIM weight assessed. Also shipping carriers charge extra for long packages so you were also assessed a surcharge for the length of the package.

@pinkham240sx This is most likely a dimensional weight surcharge.

If any single side of your package is long, USPS applies specific extra fees on services like Priority Mail, Priority Mail Express, and Ground Advantage: [1, 2, 3]

Length over 22 inches up to 30 inches: Extra fee applies (historically around $4.00).
Length greater than 30 inches: Higher extra fee applies (historically around $15.00).
Cubic volume over 2 cubic feet: Extra fee applies (around $15.00

EDIT to add if you think it is not correct then you can dispute it with USPS.
