UPS Issued a Check for Damaged Item to me but Payable to my Ebay User Name - Bank Won't Cash!
Hello : Has anyone experienced the process of filing a claim with UPS (shipped via ebay's shipping options). UPS after over 3-Months final issued me a paper check in the mail. However, it's made out to my ebay User Name and no bank in the world will cash it made out this way! It needed to be made payable to me/my real name! Anyway UPS says they can't do anything that it's ebay and ebay say's it's UPS! I honestly feel they make it difficult so you give up! IDK, any suggestions from someone who has gone thru this?

OP3 years agoI'm still trying to get my claim check reissued but UPS over a year later!
Warning and Bottomline here for all ebay sellers is : The first line in your ebay generated return address label needs to have your "Real Name" and not your Seller name. Because if UPS (and maybe others) issue you a refund check they will use the first line of the label. Most banks will not cash a check addressed to your username. And my bank said just signing the back and forcing is actually considered fraud since your trying to cash a check made out to someone else!

Mentor3 years ago@realgoodvintagestuff this happened to me, but with USPS. I had to add my 'real' name along with my ebay id onto my USPS account, since that is where the info is taken from for the payable info on checks.
in my case, i hand wrote my name onto the check per the teller's instructions at the walk up teller window, but they know me there and they have both my personal and ebay accounts.
maybe it'll work for u too!
