UPS guarantee
My sale was packaged by UPS and I purchased a delivery guarantee. The Buyer sent pictures of damaged packaging and requested a refund. I sent the buyer a copy of the receipt and explained that he had to file a claim with UPS. Should Ebay still have a hold on my funds, or will they remove the hold?

That's your job to file the claim.
Yes, eBay will hold your funds, and if you don't refund the buyer in time, eBay will take the funds from you, and you will get a defect.
Insurance is for the seller.
Go first to the store that you paid to package the item.
Did you also buy the label at that store?
