UPS adjustments
UPS has over the past 2 months charged both my wife's and my acct adjustment fees on more than 1 package. Always an adjustment stating package weighs 12 LBS. Last shipment (mine) was a plastic battery cover 1/8" thick in a 12 x 12 x 12 box, (my weight was 2lbs 3 oz. We have 3 sets of shipping scales and ship multi packages daily. Is this happening every where or just our 2 accts.

·2 years agoLarge and lightweight boxes should consider dimensional weight when quoting customers. Dimensional weight compensates the carrier for filling up a cargo container with empty air. If you are using eBay's shipping service or shipping calculator, the dimensional weight should have been automatically included in the initial charge shown to you and the buyer.
Dimensional Weight = (L x W x H) ÷ Divisor (139 or 166).

How do I determine the dimensional weight of my package?
Dimensional weight reflects package density, which is the amount of space a package occupies compared to its actual weight. Dimensional weight may apply to all UPS domestic and international package services.
Determine the package measurement in inches. For each measurement, start at the longest point, rounding each measurement to the nearest whole number.
Multiply the package length (longest side of the package) by the width by the height. The result is the cubic size in inches.
Divide the cubic size in inches by the divisor to calculate the dimensional weight in pounds. Increase any fraction to the next whole pound.
The divisor varies by rate type: 139 for Daily Rates; 166 for Retail Rates. Dimensional Weight = (L x W x H) ÷ Divisor.
