uploading a photo
I took iPhone photos of my item. iPhone creates .HEIF images. I converted them to .JPEG on my computer. They are over 4,000 pixels wide. ebay will no accept any photo and all it shows is the error "Images must be in PNG or JPEG format and be at least 500 pixels wide. All my photos fit these requirements. I've never had problems loading photos anywhere before. Any tips on overcoming this strange error?

·2 years agoThe maximum size eBay stores is 1600 pixels on the long side (about 2MP camera setting), while eBay recommends a photo between 800-1600 pixels wide (about a 1MP camera setting). Any photo that is larger than that will be resized down to 1600 by your browser during the upload session to eBay.
A photo that is 4000 wide (16MP) may exceed eBay's upload limit for browser resizing. Since you can edit on your computer, resize down to 1600 pixels on the long side, which will reduce the file size to 1/6 of what you were trying to upload.
