If a return label is never used then you will not be charged for it. The charge normally would appear on your account AFTER delivery confirmation at your location on the return.
When the buyer initiated the return, a label was created and I paid for it. You are saying if that label remains unused, the funds will be put back into my account?

@beepboopcomics
Did you process the label through eBay as part of the return claim? I offer 30 day Free Returns and have my account set to automatically accept a return request. I had a return last month and the charge did not show up on my account until a day after delivery here was confirmed through tracking. What you are seeing may just be a record of the transaction and not necessarily a final charge.
I am confident that if they took that money from your Processing or Available funds it will be reversed if the label is not used.
I didn’t process the label. I actually have a rule set that the buyer pays for returns. But if the buyer chooses a reason to return that’s not on that list, I end up paying for return shipping anyway. I can’t see the return label, or cancel it. I guess I have a hard time believing the funds will reappear if I do nothing, when I need to manually request a refund on shipping labels that I create when shipping items. I guess I’ll monitor and reach out to eBay at the end of this billing cycle. Appreciate the help. Thanks!
I would buy the return shipping label on Pirateship.com and upload it to the return cause so that you have insurance if the item is lost or damaged in return shipment. eBay return labels do NOT come with insurance.
When using your own carrier, make sure to upload the label and tracking details to the buyer’s return request. For items that have a total cost of $750 or more, signature confirmation is required.
Here’s how to send your own label from the View return details section:
Select Upload a shipping label and then the upload image icon. Choose the label you want to send to your buyer. Select your carrier and enter the tracking number.

Mentor8 months ago@beepboopcomics @mr_lincoln is correct that you are not charged the shipping fee until the return label is scanned.
I just wanted to add a tip for setting up your return shipping so that you always know exactly what and when you are paying for shipping.
1. Go to your return Preferences on turn on the option to require an RMA.
https://www.ebay.com/rtn/Return/SellerRules ( an RMA number is just any number you wish to use)
2. Provide your own pre-paid label
