Untrue notice of delivery
Summary: dsg4842 shares a frustrating experience with false delivery notifications from the United States Postal Service on Saturdays, where packages are reported as delivered but are not received. Despite having a good relationship with their postman and contacting a provided phone number, the issue persists, resulting in lost packages worth around $200. comics-scifi-collectibles suggests speaking to the local postmaster, but dsg4842 has already done so without resolution. They provide an example of receiving a delivery notification for a cancelled eBay order, showcasing the ongoing problem.
Several times in this calendar year of 2026 I have gotten emails of "notice of delivery" and in fact nothing has been delivered. This happens almost always on a Saturday and always the United States Postal Service. The item simply DID NOT ARRIVE. On occasion it does arrive the following Monday but of late I have lost two packages totally right at 200 dollars for which I have no recourse as the USPS says "it was delivered." They give me a phone number in Philadelphia and that is a blind alley as I have called this number twice and was asked to explain what happened with routing numbers and all info. Then put on hold FOREVER and after an hour or so someone comes on the line and tells me basically the same thing, "the package was delivered per our scanning records." These packages are not being stolen as I have met my post man when he scans the packages, they are simply not there. This is very frustrating and I am about done gambling with my money. There is no doubt the packages are coming through my local post office but on a Saturday all bets are off. The packages never arrived, notice is given that they did arrive, and I am just out the money.

Mentor1 month ago@dsg4842 Have you tried talking to your local post master? Sounds like they might have a bad apple on the Saturday route.

OP1 month agoThanks for the reply, I have never used this area before. Yes of course I have on many occasions. I also have a pretty good relationship with my postman. Here is an example (and what prompted this writing from Me this morning) This morning I got notification of a package being delivered. The truth is the sale through eBay was cancelled back on September 8th and I got a full refund from the seller. This morning I got an email saying the package was delivered! No kidding! I had to go through my purchase history to figure this one out. Now if this sale was cancelled and refunded on September 8th why in the world would I get an email from both eBay and the post office saying the package was delivered. I am not crazy, this is really happening.

Mentor1 month ago@dsg4842 That sounds like a fishy seller using a fake tracking scam, although they did refund which is odd.
This is my reply for the packages that tracking show delivery but that never arrived. You of course have done some of these steps.
I'm sorry that happened.
1) First, call the post office/shipper to see if the tracking number label contained your name and your address. (They won't tell you whose name is on the package, only that your name and address is not.)
a) If your name and correct address were on the label, ask the Post Office/shipper to review the GPS on the delivery, retrieve the item from the wrong house, and deliver it to you.
b) If your name and address weren't on that label, ask the Post Office/shipper if they will put this in writing; it's helpful, but not required. Also, ask for the weight of the package using that tracking number. Follow the rest of the steps starting with
2 below:
2) Then, report the seller using this process
https://www.ebay.com/help/action?topicid=4022
Important, select "Suspicious seller activity"
then "Other"
Explain that the seller is using fake tracking numbers
Include these phrases
Seller uploaded tracking not associated with my transaction
Tracking details were not accurate
Seller used a false tracking number
Don't write a novel, it's initially being read by a computer, that's why I want you to use those 3 specific phrases in the message.
3) Finally, contact Customer Service and inform them that the seller uploaded a "false tracking number" on your purchase. Share any documentation you gathered. Request a refund.
Use the Customer Service that is on Instagram this way:
Send a private direct message to the page. Explain you have a fake or false tracking number situation.
If the above steps do not result in a refund then you will have to pursue a chargeback with your funding source ( bank, credit card, etc) . Once you ask your funding source to step in eBay can no longer assist you so save this option for last.
