Unscrupulous buyer
I received an offer from a buyer late Fri night for one of my items. It is a fairly rare Jim Shore Peanuts item and I had just posted it Fri night. Within an hour this buyer had sent me an offer asking for 20% off. I didn’t see the offer until the next morning. I read this buyer’s feedback and another seller had left him feedback stating that this buyer had bought an item from her then returned it but she received another duplicate item back which was not the item she had sent him. She said she had reported this buyer to EBay. He had emailed me also early Sat morning reminding me that he had sent me an offer also. I believe I have 24hrs to respond so right there told me was very impatient and must really wanted this particular item. I decided to decline the offer and block this buyer. I had just had another buyer leave me unfair negative feedback which tanked by percentage so I just didn’t want to go through anything else right now. Well, this morning this Peanuts item was sold (full price) but I think it is this same buyer. He had opened another account (yesterday 8/3 with no feedback yet). ID of the buyer I blocked was xxxxnn06 and this new account was xxxxnn24. I’m pretty sure it is the same buyer. What are my options? If I cancel I will get a defect, right? But if I send it to him he may do the same thing as he did to the other seller and switch and send me back another duplicate but damaged item. I thought about putting a mark on the bottom of the item I will send him but what if he just makes the same mark on the duplicate item he sends back to me? I know I am doing “what if†thinking right now but I really wanted to avoid any situations like this so when I read his feedback I decided to decline his offer and block him. I feel as a seller that is my right. Besides he expected 20% off a newly listed item (within about 1 hour ) which is rare and that didn’t sit well with me anyway. I don’t want a defect but I don’t want to lose my good rare item and my money. I’m worried even if I cancel he may just open another account and do the same thing all over again. He must really want this item. I wish EBay had a system for preventing people from doing this. I don’t want to email him and accuse him of anything either - that alone and cancelling the item will surely give me another negative. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks. .
