Unresponsive seller
I'm thinking of buying a specific model Samsung phone. I saw one (used) for a modest/low price and I made a bid on it for even lower, the bid somehow didn't register on ebay, I later made the same bid which was instantly declined (it showed "5 bids left" which confirmed that clearly the first attempt had not gone through), then I made a higher bid, and then I also asked the seller a question (through the "Contact Seller" tab which allows more than a tweet's worth of words), a question sent yesterday which they still haven't responded to. My second, higher bid got 0 response and just expired, and I still have no answer to my question about whether the video works and the charging port is dependable/ not erratic. I know it's coming up toward Christmas and maybe the seller is super-busy but is this typical? Might they have been offended at my initial offer that was only about 55% of the ~$20 value? (it's not free shipping so that added to the price). I just wanna make sure this phone has a solidly working video function etc 'cause that's what I'm buying it for! I'm a little uneasy buying a phone from someone who has responded *not at all* to my questions.
How good is the eBay return policy if there's even something a little off with this phone? I hate dealing with super-uncommunicative business people, if something is wrong with this phone I don't want to be frustratedly speaking to a wall as I have been the past two days. Appreciate your input.

You made OFFERS, not bids.
Sellers are not obligated to respond to offers. Offering 55% of the value/price is a bit low, I usually make offers around 80-90%.
If you don't know the full details of the phone, it probably would be best to pass it up even though Ebay does allow returns in certain situations.

OP2 years agoHi, thanks so much for reply! Yes, I meant "offer", not "bid". I know the offer was low but they could have just said "no way, $xx minimum" or some such (though I do understand they're under no obligation to respond). Them not answering my "video/ charging port" question is discomfiting; so if I bought it and the video (or the charging port) turned out to be wiggy, do you think this would qualify as a "certain situation" that eBay would honor? And would I have to pay for return shipping? It might be worth a shot getting this but not if eBay won't have my back.
Thanks so much again for your reply and thanks in advance for any further info!
