Unpaid strikes after 4 days-- one of the **bleep**ED rules
Ebay has a **bleep**ed policy of cancelling order and giving buyer unpaid strike without notifying buyer and there's no way to tell if 4 days have elapsed because the ebay summary is NOT in order. As soon as someone invoices, his item moves up as if the item was just bought. Not only that, some items sometimes show up in the list of items purchased because of some glitch in ebay. In fact, I have seen a summary page empty when I have more then 10 items to be paid for.
Well, this is what happened this morning-- I went to pay for some seller who I asked for combined invoice which he never gave nor even replied so I figure this is the 4th day, I better pay. SoI at 10:00 am I go to pay for th items and only 2 items showed up out of the 5 that I purchased from this particular seller. I tried to pay with paypal and it kept giving error-- "some of your items are not available." Well, let me pay for the ones that are! By the time I tried to flush the **bleep**ed cache in the system to avoid this error, I had 3 unpaid strikes on me as items got cancelled around 10:30 am and I started to pay 30 minutes before this happened! Paypal does not even know what the heck is going on giving errors where buyer has done nothing wrong.
Can't these people get some real programmers to rewrite their software or revert back to the old version because the OLD VERSION did not have all these bugs! Now my account is pretty much restricted and I can't even rebuy the same items that got cancelled because most blind sellers like this one just blindly follow ebay rules without realizing how TERRIBLE and ERRONEOUS they are.
Ebay used to allow 8 days and after 4 days they allowed seller to file unpaid case which took 4 more days. at least before giving unpaid strike after closing case. At least the unpaid case served as a reminder that payment is due. Now there's no way to tell.

eBay changed the way it gave out unpaid item strikes about 2-3 years ago. It went from a 2-step process taking a minimum of 6 days ... to a 1-step process where the seller can 'cancel' on the 5th day after purchase. [The '8 days' you remember was a policy that preceded the '6 days' one.]
Many sellers have set up to have the cancellation done automatically on the 5th day. Unless you tell a seller that you are purchasing multiple items ... AND ask them to turn off their 'Automated Assistant' ... you may receive nonpayment strikes on the items you win first.
I was under the impression that eBay sends out 'reminders' about the transactions that are about to be cancelled. Did you not receive any reminders from eBay?

OP3 years agoI did not receive any reminders and just searched my email for "reminder" and there are none so either they never made it to my mailbox or they were not sent.
Important thing is that several times sellers have promised combined shipping and then they go on vacation or it's a weekend and they never send the combined invoice and 4 days is NOT enough time. Just the July 4th weekend was already 4 days and big sellers were out for 4 days! In this case, seller claimed he never received request to combine shipping until after the items were already cancelled! Then paypal adds to the woes by taking a TON of time and not always letting you process the request due to "cache" bugs. And there's NO ORDER on which items need attention and need to be paid right away like they have "red" warnings to ship items if many items have passed.
If they unpaid cases, at least that pops up and you need something needs attention. I have bought like 50+ laptops in the past couple of months so I need time to pay gradually and they don't even have things in order. And worse of all which happened today, NOT ALL ITEMS were in the summary page! And paypal glitched out claiming "not all items available." Double whammy! Ebay is bugged and then paypal adds to the glitches. And seller is also to blame as the third whammy as he never sent the invoice.

·3 years agoIt is up to you to keep track of your bids, offers, and purchases often enough to be able to pay for them with 4 full calendar days, and not rely on getting notices. Check your Purchase History for items needing payment at least every 3 days while you have any bids or offers pending.

OP3 years agoIt does not work as already stated-- ebay changes order of items bought when someone invoices or does not state any info on items one with "make offer". No way to tell exact time/day to pay. You have to check every item to know when to pay and time isn't even noted.
If we have to track it ourself, what's the point of a misleading summary page of purchase history?

OP3 years agoAnd what were computers meant for if we have to track things yourself. And it's out of the question to buying many items if we have to track things ourself.
They need better software or to go back to the old one. I am pretty sure there are items which cannot be paid within 4 days even if one is not a bulk buyer.
They need better software. Just because they have the latest "AI" does not mean it works or is better than the old non-AI version. Just to prove my point, as I was writing this, some ebay pop-out came right on top and asked me something. That's **bleep**ed. I'm writing something important and its asking me an irrelevant question and disrupting my flow of thinking!

·3 years agoSellers can either set it to process the unpaid item case automatically on the fifth day, or they can set it where they go in manually anytime between the fifth and 30th day and do the unpaid item case.
