Unpaid item
I was recently sniped with 2 seconds left on an item , then the seller said it didn’t sell or bidder failed to pay so my question is shouldn’t the sale revert back to me @ standing bid before the bogus buy or does seller have option to re-list

·2 years agoNo. What you want isn't what happens. You didn't win, so you have no obligation to that listing and the seller has none to you. It is the seller's item and s/he chooses what to do.
S/he can make a Second Chance Offer at your highest bid. eBay sets that price, not the seller who can take it or leave it (not make the SCO) and if s/he does make the offer YOU can take it or leave it. It sounds like this is what s/he did.
It is not unfair to set the price at the full amount of your bid, since your bid and the winner's bid together raised the minimum bid amount to an increment over what you see as the final price for whatever period of time both bids were in play, so nobody could have bid an amount that would have raised the price up nearer to or equal to or above your maximum for that period of time. Plus remember the seller can take it or leave it--s/he would be more likely to leave it if eBay set the price for your SCO at one increment over the third highest bidder's maximum or some other lower amount, so you wouldn't be able to take it if s/he leaves it as s/he is much more likely to do at the lower price. Further SCOs are not just for where the winner backs out--they can also be made where the seller has a duplicate item to sell.
ETA: Or s/he can relist it or sell it somewhere else or keep it or whatever.
