Unnecessarily Rude Seller
Has anyone experienced an unnecessarily rude seller on eBay. I just had my first experience after all these years for simply letting the seller know that the item was not delivered to my door as the email sent to me stated. I said "Just received an email saying the item was elivered. There is nothing at my door."
The seller's immediate response was "That's not my problem; it’s the Post Office’s problem. They deliver the package to you, not me."
This is a first. Why??
Is this behavior normal?

I am sorry you had a rude seller. That's not how I treat my customers.
If this was a trading card, stamp, coin, etc shipped with eBay Standard envelope, it may show up tomorrow. The tracking on those is different and reports when the item is at the last post office.
If it was a regular item
1) First, call the post office to see if the tracking number label contained your name and your address.
a) If your name and correct address were on the label, ask USPS to review the GPS on the delivery, retrieve the item from the wrong house, and deliver it to you.
b) If your name and address weren't on that label, ask the Post Office if they will put this in writing; it's helpful, but not required. (They won't tell you whose name *is* on the package, only that your name and address *is not*.) Also, ask for the weight of the package using that tracking number. Follow the rest of the steps starting with 2 below:
FOR UPS:
You can usually find the weight and other details for UPS here:
https://www.ups.com/track?loc=en_US&requester=ST/
then click " Proof of Delivery"
The proof of delivery may have more details about the delivery site, and the weight. Screenshot that.
FOR FEDEX
You can usually find the weight and other details for FedEx here:
https://www.fedex.com/en-us/tracking.html
Then click 'View More Details' to see the package weight. Screenshot that.
2) Then, report the seller using this process
https://www.ebay.com/help/action?topicid=4022
Important, select "Suspicious seller activity"
then "Other"
Explain that the seller is using fake tracking numbers
Include these phrases
Don't write a novel, it's initially being read by a computer, that's why I want you to use those 3 specific phrases in the message.
3) Finally, contact Customer Service and inform them that the seller uploaded a "false tracking number" on your purchase. Share any documentation you gathered. Request a refund.
Use the Customer Service that is on Instagram this way:
Send a private direct message to the page. Explain you have a fake or false tracking number situation.
Let me know how this goes, I've been burned a few times myself (including on Amazon), but I have been able to get a refund following this process.
There are additional steps to take if the above isn't effective, just come back and update me.

OP5 months agoMany thanks for taking the time to be the type of seller I'm used to on eBay. One thing I found out is that even though the email came from FedEx they contract with the post office. So, the package was actually delived by the post office to my mail box; not by FedEx to my front door as would be expected from a FedEx email.
I went to the mailbox this morning and saw the package there. I learned three things: FedEx uses the post office, don't assume that because FedEx sent an email saying a package has been delived that it's at your door, and lastly never to use that seller again.
