Unjust Negative Feed Back with No Proof and Seller Denied Appeal
I received what I believe to be an unjust negative feedback from a buyer who provided absolutely no evidence to support his claims—no photos, no documentation, only his opinion. This issue is not about the monetary value of the transaction; it is about protecting the integrity of the 100% positive feedback rating I have worked diligently to maintain since 2018. The buyer purchased the item on May 11, and it was promptly shipped on May 12. On May 22, before the package had even been delivered, the buyer opened a dispute claiming the item was not as described. The package was successfully delivered by FedEx on May 26, the same day the buyer began questioning the delivery status despite being provided with tracking information and proof of delivery.
As a responsible seller, I attempted to understand the buyer's concerns and requested photographs of the alleged issue so I could properly evaluate and address the complaint. Instead of providing any evidence, the buyer stated that he had thrown the item away, had no time to deal with me, and expressed satisfaction in leaving me my “first negative feedback,” accompanied by inappropriate language and offensive gestures. At that point, I was left with no opportunity to review the alleged problem, verify the claim, or offer a reasonable resolution.
I understand that disputes occasionally arise between buyers and sellers, and I fully support eBay's commitment to protecting customers. However, sellers should also be afforded a fair process, especially when they have followed all policies, shipped promptly, communicated professionally, and made every effort to resolve concerns. I contacted eBay and was informed that the feedback would remain after an automated review. This raises a serious concern: what recourse does a seller have when a buyer refuses to provide proof, uses abusive language, and leaves damaging feedback without justification? I respectfully request a thorough review of this situation and clarification on how sellers are expected to protect their reputations when they have complied with all eBay requirements. A fair marketplace should hold all parties accountable and base decisions on facts and evidence, not unsupported allegations.request for dispute

Mentor4 months agoEbay already ruled that the feedback will not be removed. There is nothing else you can do.
Did you offer the buyer a full refund if they returned the item?
psquareddesign
OP4 months agoI requested pics of the item to access what could be done and he refused with insults. Said it was thrown in the trash. NO pics was presented to me or Ebay. This is a great lesson in how to buyers vs sellers work on Ebay. Unfortunately he as he stated got to put an unjust negative feedback on my account. Sadly, I learned a great lesson.

Mentor4 months agoThe buyer was not obligated to provide YOU with pictures, but if they filed an Ebay Return Request they would have been required to provide at least one picture to attach to the return request.
Again, did you offer the buyer a refund?
By the way, you still have a very good feedback percentage.

OP4 months agoNo, I did not immediately offer a refund because my first priority was to understand and resolve the reported issue with the item. Unfortunately, I was not given the opportunity to do so, as the communication quickly became inappropriate and unproductive. I was also surprised to learn that the item was reportedly discarded before any meaningful effort was made to investigate or resolve the concern. Regarding the statement that buyers are not obligated to provide photographs, I appreciate that perspective, although it makes it difficult for a seller to verify and address a claim. After seven years of selling on eBay, I am still learning new things about the platform, and I appreciate the insight shared.

Mentor4 months agoIf the buyer claims the item arrived damaged, ebay would have asked for photos when the case was filed. If you accepted the return, a return shipping label would have been provided. Once the buyer sends back the item and tracking shows Delivered, then you refund the buyer. Since buyer stated s/he threw it in the trash, s/he would not be returning the item. You then go to the case and click Ask ebay to step in, and the case would close because the buyer never sent back the item.

OP4 months agoNot sure why this wouldn't warrant a negative feedback removal but this is definitely a lesson learned!!! Thanks for the information!
