Unjust fee
**bleep** is with eBay? Impossible to contact them in any way shape or form… I am a long, long time user… I’ve been a great customer… I listed an item incorrectly, and it was pointed out to me that it was incorrect by a potential buyer… There had already been one bid on it… I canceled it in order to correct the listing so that it was Truthful… I then received a $67 fee from Ebay and I cannot contact anybody in anyway shape or form to dispute it…I’m an incredibly disgruntled client

·2 years agoIt is specifically against the rules for a seller to cancel all bids and end the auction early without a winner IF it is because s/he deliberately set the Starting Price lower than s/he was willing to sell for, and it hasn't reached that high. This is considered fee avoidance because eBay charges a substantial fee for sellers to have a Reserve Price so they aren't promising to sell as low as their Starting Price.
But there are legitimate reasons why a seller would have to do so (such as discovering an error in the listing), and a few years ago eBay got tired of having to divine the subjective intent of a seller who took that action, so it adopted some procedures that make it less attractive to do so with that intention: it can only be done before the countdown reaches 12 hours AND it charges a fee (the FVF% for that seller in that category times the highest cancelled bid) when s/he does so (with the first such fee per calendar year waived to allow for the very occasional legitimate reason for doing so, at least when the fee first came out; if you have not ended an auction early that has had a bid in 2024 you might try Help and Contact to contact Customer Service to see if they will waive it).

When you end an auction that has a bid, you are charged a fee based on the current bid amount showing at the time you ended the listing.
