Unfulfilled / Refunded orders?
This inquiry seeks to determine if anything besides leaving negative feedback can be done to document (correct?) poor Seller behavior? Specifically those that don’t fulfill paid orders, and require “mommy†eBay to issue a refund…
Have had this happen with two previous orders, and it appears a recent one will be unfulfilled. This seems to happen when a Buy it Now Listing was priced very low. Or, a bidding auction had a very low starting price that sold on the first and only bid. The later is the case with my most recent order that is still awaiting shipment after being paid five days ago. Of course negative feedback can be left. So far I have either left neutral or no feedback for past unfulfilled / refunded orders.
The other question is whether it would be worth reaching our to the Seller requesting the items be shipped, or just let it ride until enough time has passed that eBay can intervene? Pretty sure eBay can get involved only after 13 days have passed since the order was placed? Please reply with correction if not, and any other information would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

OP2 years agoThank you to all respondents. It is very useful to learn that if eBay has to get involved, poor performing sellers will receive "defects", which will increase their fees. In that case, I won't be inquiring to the Seller about the unshipped items. Instead I will notify eBay about the lack of order fulfillment when sufficient time has passed to alert them.
Thanks again

·2 years agoIf you have to "Ask eBay to step in" to get your refund, they get a "defect" which is counted in their monthly selling review for the next 12 months (3 months for high volume sellers). Too high a percentage of defects results in downgraded status which means higher fees and other loss of privileges.

eBay has a 30-day Money Back Guarantee for Buyer Purchase Protection. Once it is one day past the estimated delivery date for a purchase, you can open an Item Not Received request. The Seller has three business days to respond and is required to respond by eBay with a valid tracking number. If the Seller does not respond on time, you can then ask eBay to step in to resolve the issue.
Before purchasing from a Seller, it's always good to look at the feedback they receive from their Buyers. Additionally, it's good to look at their handling time in the listing.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with holding Sellers accountable for what they put in their listings as far as handling time. Leaving a neutral for a Seller does not impact their account.
