Unfair Return Request

Question

Sold an item and buyer messaged me requesting a "partial refund" because the item weighed 4.8 grams instead 5grams. When I weighed the item, my scale read 5 grams.

They buyer requested a partial refund of $20. I agreed to the $20 refund, but the buyer had already requested the return and I had no options to issue a partial refund.

They are returning the item and expecting a full refund without responding to my messages and my agreement to a partial refund...requested by them.

Do I have any right to refusal of the return/refund in this situation?

The item was officially authenticated and sent to them. And again officially authenticated in the process of being shipped back to me.

I bought a digital scale, and weighed one of my cymbals, weighed it four times. The digital scale gave four different readings, and I mean significant differences, namely 40 grams difference from the lowest to highest, weighing an 816 gram item. I threw that pos into the trash and bought an Ohaus triple beam balance scale, that is phenomenal. I've done extensive testing for accuracy and repeatability, and the scale is so sensitive and so accurate, I would go to the mattresses defending its readings. I'm not saying your scale is inaccurate, maybe the buyer's scale is inaccurate. Maybe both. A difference of 0.2 grams on an expected 5.0 gram item works out to 4%, roughly the same percentage as my digital scale that I deemed woefully unsat.

If the buyer filed the return request with a valid reason per the Ebay Money Back Guarantee, you cannot refuse the return.
