UNFAIR POLICY
I SOLD A RARE ITEM FROM THE 1930'S TO A BUYER WHO CLAIMS THE ITEM WAS DAMAGED. IT DID NOT MEET UP TO HIS EXPECTATIONS, EVEN THOUGH I NEVER SAID IT WAS IN "VERY GOOD" CONDITION. APPARENTLY. EBAY DECIDED TO REFUND HIS MONEY. SINCE THEN, I HAVE ASKED THE BUYER TO RETURN MY ITEM. I SENT HIM A RETURN SLIP, SO NO MONEY OUT OF HIS POCKET. HE COULD RETURN THE ITEM IN THE SHIPPING BOX I SENT IT IN. NO RESPONSE BACK, AND IT'S BEEN NEARLY A MONTH NOW.

Mentor1 month agoIf the buyer opened an "Item not as described" case you have three days to accept the return or the buyer could ask eBay to step in. If eBay has to step in the buyer gets their money back from your account and can keep the item. The buyer no longer has any obligation to return the item. You should have accepted the return and then once you get the item back you refund on your own.

Ebay has a 30-day Money Back Guarantee. That Guarantee overrides an individual Seller's no return policy. A Buyer has 30 days from delivery to request a refund.
If the Buyer opens an Item Not as Described refund request on eBay, even if it's not true, the Seller only has three business days to respond with either a prepaid return label or a refund. If they do not, eBay will step in and force the refund.
At that point the case is closed and the Buyer is not required to return the item.
