Unfair decision
A buyer was sent a video of the working condition and state of a 1970's large, heavy, music mixing desk, which was perfect except had 1 channel out of 8 not working, which the buyer agreed and proceeded to a sale. Being helpful we arranged a man & van courier, who fully liaised with us both via text during the transit process. The delivery did not happen when advised, and the buyer filed a non-received complaint to EBay. The delivery was made soon after but the buyer claimed damage and was not functioning, in his abrasive message, but did not cancel the complaint of non received goods. We responded by asking the buyer to provide as many photos and video as evidence for the courier, but he sent one unclear photo. Meanwhile, I was slightly taken aback by the ebay complaint message requesting tracking details as I knew delivery had been made, nor did I have a tracking number, and was busy at my place of work in a hospital. Before managing to respond the case was closed and advised a full refund to the buyer [£410], which was debited from my bank account. I sent several messages to the buyer for return of the mixer who categorically refused and has since ignored all my messages despite appeals to EBay who have suggested contacting him for a resolution, but if he wont respond and without any bargaining power I am seriously stuck and out of pocket. If this was a small amount I would forget it, but the refund and goods amount to almost £1000. This I feel is unacceptable, since I also feel we are lacking concrete evidence of damage, agreeing with the courier after he compared his collection and delivery photos. I am not giving up on this but would like some advice from anyone who can help here, before taking this further.
