Understanding Online Selling Platform Fees and Balance Deductions
Summary: di-o-rama is seeking advice on a discrepancy experienced while selling items online. Despite expecting a balance of £500 after fees from a sale, only £350 appeared, and after a canceled order, their balance dropped to £0. They are asking the community if others have faced similar issues and for any guidance on effectively navigating online selling platforms.
Hi everyone,
I recently encountered some confusion while selling items online, and I’m hoping to get some insights from this knowledgeable community. Here’s what happened: I sold an item, and after all the fees, it seemed like I should have a balance of £500. However, only £350 showed up. Then, I had another sale, but the buyer asked me to cancel the order. After doing so, my balance dropped to £0.
I checked the fee breakdown, and everything indicated that I'd receive £500 for the first sale. Has anyone experienced something similar? What factors could be affecting these discrepancies in sales and balance? I'd love to hear your thoughts or any advice on navigating these platforms effectively.
Thanks!

That sounds frustrating.
Your "available funds" are a running total, so there may be fees from other listings and sales intermingled. Each payout can cover multiple transactions.
You'll have Available funds, and Pending Funds (UK wording may be slightly different)
There are a couple of steps the money goes through.
- Processing
- Payment Holds (if any)
- Payout, which happens automatically after any holds.
Refunds come out of Available funds, you may have money in pending.
