Undeliverable package
Summary: joannl1201 encountered an issue where a package was returned due to a vacant address provided by a buyer. The buyer had recently changed their address and expected delivery before the change. joannl1201 plans to refund the payment upon receiving the returned items but is unsure about deducting the shipping costs. comics-scifi-collectibles advised refunding only the item price and relisting it, as per eBay's policy, to handle the situation appropriately.
The EBay address provided is a vacant property and the post office is returning the package to me. The buyer contacted me asking where his package is and I explained the problem. He said he changed is address and thought the package would arrive before the change. He provided me with a new address which I am not going to use. MyMy intent is to refund his payment once I get the items back. question is about refunding his payment. Should I deduct the shipping cost from the refund since he provided an old address?

If you're worried that the same person might buy the item again, you can add their username to your BBL at https://www.ebay.com/bmgt/BuyerBlock

Mentor1 month ago@joannl1201 Once you get the item back refund the item price ONLY from the drop down menu next to the sold item. Do NOT refund the shipping costs even if it was " free shipping".
Then relist and they can buy again putting in the correct address at checkout.
Per eBay policy sellers are not required to refund for packages that are returned to sender but it is the right thing to do. Plus a buyer can still file a chargeback which they most likely would win.
